I've just got back from A-fest - a personal development conference - in Spain, with one of my best friends, Anna. The theme for the conference was 'love and relationships', one of the key areas in my life which I feel needs to 'grow and develop'.
We had amazing speakers such as John Gray (who wrote 'Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus', Esther Perel who has a top-rated TED talk on relationships, and Dan Savage, author of the top-rated relationship blog, 'Savage Love'. I started with a pre-conference workshop on Speaker Training with Eric Edmeades, who founded 'Wildfit' - the nutritional program I've been following since October last year, where so many people commented on how good I was looking and how much weight I lost!
Only about 400 people of the 2000+ who apply are selected to attend A-fest, and it was an amazing group of phenomenal humans - I met several people who will become lifetime friends. Over the week, I also read a fabulous book called 'The Queen's Code' by Alison Armstrong, which is told as a story, but has life-changing information about how men and women can interact to bring out the best in each other. The learnings from the book were brought into vivid reality by the messages from the A-fest speakers, and by observing the interaction between the people who attended - what worked, and what didn't - and it was amazing how accurate the book was!
My other highlights from Afest was the daily yoga, and the heart-to-heart Afest hug. Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love a good hug!! John Gray says that a 6+ second genuine heartfelt hug for a woman not only releases oxytocin - the bonding hormone - but also increases estrogen to increase her femininity! More hugs all round would be my vote!!
It was an intense and enlightening week, followed by a quick visit to my mum in Alicante (also in Spain). It's my mum's first ever trip to Europe, so I was delighted that I got to spend a couple of days with her, exploring the old town and castle of Alicante, visiting the markets, and going to a flamenco show. It would have been nice to stay longer, but I raced back to London for the Harley St Clinic, and then headed home, as we are soooo busy with work right now!
Our nurses are currently booked 3 weeks ahead, our skin team is booked up for 6 weeks, and I'm booked up until the end of July. We do get cancelled appointments that become available, but if you are wanting an appointment over the next few weeks, you will need to go on a cancellation list, and the available appointment will go to the first person on the list who says 'yes', so it's a good idea to keep your phone on, have our phone number loaded, and answer the phone if the team call! We also recommend pre-booking your next appointment when you leave, or if you have a steady schedule, some people are booking 2-3 treatments ahead!
We are excited to be launching our latest new skin treatment, Dermafrac, which is a comfortable - even pleasant feeling - infusion device using a combination of micro needles, vacuum and infusion to deliver treatment serums into the top active layer of the skin. It doesn't go as deep as dermal needling, so no numbing is required, and it can be used on the fine fragile skin of the lips and eye areas, with good effects. We trialled the Dermafrac at the end of last year and beginning of this year, and it adds another effective tool into our tool kit of treatments. There are a variety of different serums that can be infused, and I'm looking forward to playing with some new ideas we have of combining Dermafrac with some of our other tools to create new treatments with new effects!! Winter is the perfect time to come for a hydrating Dermafrac infusion, as our skin often becomes drier and has to cope with cold outside and warm inside... so it's nice to give it a little extra love!
We're also delighted that Latisse is back in stock!! We seriously considered changing to another Lash stimulator when it was taking so long, but I'm happy with our decision to stay with Latisse. Latisse is unique in that it's the only prescription medicine approved to grow thicker, longer, darker lashes, and it has a strong safety history as it has been used as an eyedrop for glaucoma for many years. If you have previously had a consult with us for Latisse, you can just put your order in. If not, you will need to see one of our nurses for a 15-minute consult.
It's hard to believe we are heading into winter again, it feels like summer only really just finished! Remember that now is a good time to be doing/planning your IPL treatments and getting the skin on your chest and neck into good condition before we hit the summer months again!
Thank you for choosing us, and for the wonderful interactions you give us when you come in. It's a pleasure to be working with you, and we couldn't have new treatments, new learning experiences, growth and development without your support. We look forward to seeing you in clinic soon!!
Have a fabulous month!!
Loads of love and 6 second hugs,
Dr Cat 😻
