Dr Cat's News Update - October 2019 name

I had a wonderful trip to Bali, celebrating one of my bestie’s 40th birthday, with friends who I have known for between 15 and 20 years! Anna’s actual birthday is in August, the day before mine (although I’m always 5 years older for some reason!), and over the years we have had many combined birthdays, so they very kindly threw me a birthday celebration too while I was there! Bali is one of my favourite places, and I had a fabulous time with great friends, surfing, meditating, going to yoga, beach walks and scootering through the paddy fields, to came back feeling rested and refreshed, with a ‘Bali glow’. ☺️🙏🤣

The book has hit the bookshelves at good bookstores, and people have loved receiving their ‘pre-sale’ orders in the mail! It’s so amazing to finally have the book available for purchase. We have been building up to this for a long time, and it really has been a massive team effort – I’m so grateful to everyone involved, from our incredible food photographer (the photos are stunning!) and food stylist, to our distributor, Bateman’s, our incredible team who have been involved every step of the way, and especially to Jess, who has been the driving force of bringing this book baby to life in such a beautiful form. Also, thank you to everyone who has shared the book on their social media - we love seeing people trying out the recipes for themselves. It’s a work of love, and we are so excited and delighted to share it with you!

Jess and I did a radio interview with ‘The Hits’ team on Wednesday morning to promote the book, and we have more TV, radio and magazine interviews coming up over the next few weeks, so keep an ear out!

It’s been a massive week, with a phenomenal response to our ‘Beauty Decoded’ events last week on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Each night had a slightly different ‘flavour’, but both were a resounding success. We had people turning up an hour early to our Britomart event on Tuesday night! We had a significant number of ‘newbies’ coming to the Britomart event, while we had a lot of existing clients or women experienced with cosmetic injectables who came to the Takapuna event. A huge thank you to the team members who gave up their evenings to share their time to make it such a success.

On Friday I spoke at a charity lunch for Dress For Success, about life changes and life-changing treatments. Dress For Success helps change lives when life changes, so it was a theme I wanted to explore in my talk. I shared my story of building the clinic from nothing, almost losing everything and then us rebuilding the clinic to even better than before, and actually got quite emotional!  I then talked about the life-changing procedures we provide on a daily basis, and shared the story of Gaynor, who came to us as a broken woman after her husband left her, and how we turned her miserable frown the right way up, which started her on the path to looking and feeling like herself again; and Maddy, who got breast cancer at 27, had breast reconstruction/chemotherapy/tamoxifen, and then her partner left her less than a year into her cancer journey because she went into early menopause and sex became painful. We were providing treatments to help soften her scars and decided to help with a pro-bono O-Shot treatment. Her successful treatment meant she felt confident going dating, and she met a wonderful man and fell in love again.

I also recorded and submitted my presentations for the first Global Virtual Aesthetic Summit! The GVAS is running in November, and is the first fully digital aesthetic conference, which industry professionals can attend from anywhere in the world with just a laptop! It has a virtual exhibition hall, hangout rooms, and ‘live’ presenting, where a recorded session will be played, and then the presenter will be available ‘live’ online to answer any questions.

I’m very honoured to be the only NZ doctor on the faculty, alongside some of the superstars of our industry, and excited to be part of something so innovative and unique! If you are a cosmetic injector, skin therapist or involved in the running of a cosmetic clinic, you might want to register here to check it out!

It’s hard to believe that it’s October already, and Christmas will be upon us in a heartbeat... it’s worth booking your pre-Xmas appointments now to ensure you get in, as it’s usually a crazy busy time of year.

We will be finishing our IPL treatments for the year very soon, so if your skin is prepped, and you want a last zap before summer, please book in ASAP.

We look forward to seeing you in clinic, have an incredible month!

Loads of love,

Dr Cat xx
