Dr Cat's News Update - October 2020 name

It’s now less than 3 months until Christmas (wow, how did that happen?) and we are coming into our busy season, so it’s important to book your pre-Xmas treatments now, to ensure you can have the appointments you want.

We have been super-busy since coming out of lockdown, and we are delighted to see record numbers of new patients - as well as our loyal familiar faces - coming through the doors, despite all the restrictions. With the news that we go to Level 1 again tomorrow, along with the usual build up to party season that usually starts in October, we’re expecting it to be even busier than normal in the lead up to Xmas.

We’ve seen excellent uptake in the use of our My Face Place app (you can find it on both the App Store and Android if you haven’t downloaded it yet), as it makes online booking even easier! If you are having any issues getting your preferred pre-Xmas appointment time booked, maybe book a less preferred time to ensure you are in the system, and then give our team a call to go on the waiting list for your preferred time. We will do our best to accommodate within the limits of our schedule. With our time being so precious at this time of year, we will be enforcing our last minute cancellation fees a lot more, so please let us know with at least 48 hours notice if you would like to change your appointment. This means we can potentially accomodate someone on the waitlist, and hence have less need to charge a cancellation fee.

Now that the lockdown restrictions are easing again, we can go back to providing mineral makeup top ups, water in the waiting rooms, and while you are welcome to wear a mask in the waiting room, it will no longer be mandatory. Check out the great blog about the benefits of mineral makeup, plus our incredible new sunscreen, Heliocare, in the newsletter.

Level 1 means we can also resume both our internal and external training. We are excited to be offering our Hyalase Workshop for filler injectors on the 23rd November, and we are catching up with lots of training for our team, with advanced training on Volite - a skin conditioning injectable treatment that is great for reducing fine lines around the mouth and cheeks, fine crepeyness on the neck and chest, or just enhancing your hydration and ‘glow’ - this week for the medical team; next week we have training in our new ‘structural’ filler designed for enhancing jawlines and chins, Volux; and then on the 18th October we have our quarterly ‘Team Training Day’, where the team practice their new skills on our team members, so we can talk confidently about what the treatments are really like, from experience!

Over the next month we should also have the final results in on Profhilo, the injectable HA product designed to help with biorevitalisation of the face, neck, arms, knees and tummies, providing extra hydration of the skin and improving early skin laxity. It is provided as a course of 2 treatments spaced a month apart, however lockdown 2 pushed the second treatment out for our trialists. Some people require 3 treatments, and it also is apparently a great treatment to alternate with Volite treatments for skin conditioning and hydration. So far we have seen mixed results after just one treatment, with some people seeing great results and some people seeing no change, so I’m excited to see what happens after 2 treatments! We will keep you updated ☺️

It’s so lovely to have the longer days, especially with how beautiful they have been, and it looks like we are heading into a long, hot summer! Yay! On a personal level, my energy is much better than it was when I was taking Tamoxifen, but is still only about 80% of my normal levels - possibly due to post-radiation tiredness, or maybe just still emotionally processing the journey. I will continue on slightly reduced hours until the end of this year to give my body and mind time to appropriately recover. I’m confident our incredible nurses will continue to provide amazing treatments for you, as they continue to grow and develop their skills to an even higher level every year.

I just came back from a lovely 2 day break in Queenstown with friends - my first trip on a plane since before the first lockdown! It was so lovely to get out of Auckland for a bit, and just hang with good friends, eat, drink and share stories! I tried to get up snowboarding, but was thwarted by the wind, and so had a lovely weekend just relaxing. It was very much needed ☺️

We are delighted to have Kaitlin back from maternity leave working some part-time hours this month. Her first few weeks are already fully booked!

As we come into summer, we will be winding up our IPL treatments over the next month, so make sure you get in and get booked at our Britomart clinic if you’re wanting these treatments completed this year.

It’s been a tough and crazy year for so many people, so we appreciate your continued support, and look forward to seeing your gorgeous face in clinic as we ramp up for Christmas and the party season!

Have a wonderful month, especially now we are in L1!

Big hugs, Dr Cat 😻🤗
