Dermal Needling

As part of the natural ageing process, UV breaks down collagen and elastin fibres, thinning the skin and losing its buoyancy, leading to fine lines, wrinkles and vascular looking skin. Collagen Induction therapy (CIT) uses micro fine needles that perforate the capillary network creating a cascade of growth factors that eventually lead to collagen deposition, thickening the skin, padding out pores, fine lines and wrinkles.

We offer three methods of Dermal Needling: The Dermal Roller, the eDermaStamp and the SkinPen.

The Dermal Roller is a cylindrical barrel with many micro fine needles inserted into the barrel which is rolled over the skin.
The eDermaStamp is a vibrational pen-like stamping device with a chamber that sits behind the needles and allows a peptide rich solution to be delivered at the time of treatment.
SkinPen uses a sterile, single use needle cartridge that can be adjusted to determine the length of the microneedle appropriate for the skin concern that is being treated.

Dermal rolling has the advantage of being able to be administered 3 - 7 days apart for 6 treatments for optimum results.
The eDermaStamp is administered 4 - 6 weekly and has the advantage of a built-in chamber delivering the peptide solution and a much smaller head, allowing for more comfort during treatment and the ability to work closely in smaller areas such as the top lip and around the eye. It also has a function to alter the needle length depending on skin thickness (eg, longer needles for the cheeks and reduced needle length for the forehead, nose and eye area).
With the SkinPen, Skinfuse Lift HG (a hydrogel product) is applied to the skin's surface during the procedure.  This is specifically formulated to use with SkinPen procedures to prevent friction and abrasion during the treatment. SkinPen may improve the appearance of melasma, pigmentation, acne and surgical scars and assists in the promotion of collagen and elastin.

All three methods offer excellent results, the Dermal Roller protocol being based on the latest research, offering optimum results, and the eDermaStamp is a less time-intensive, more comfortable regime that can be incorporated with PRP ( Vampire Facial Plus). The eDermaStamp is very similar to the SkinPen, however the former is often recommended for collagen induction and anti-aging, whereas SkinPen targets more towards melasma/pigmentation and acne scarring.

Dermal Needling FAQ's

Will I need an initial consultation?

Yes, as with all of our services, you must have an initial consultation before proceeding with your first treatment - regardless of if you have had this treatment elsewhere. This ensures you are fully educated and informed before proceeding with treatment. We are a best-practice clinic and consistently deliver optimal results by placing paramount importance on education and informed consent.

What is a Dermal Needling treatment?

An advanced treatment using micro fine needles that perforate the capillary network creating creating a cascade of growth factors that eventually lead to collagen deposition, thickening the skin, padding out pores, fine lines and wrinkles.

How is the procedure performed and does it hurt?

The skin is cleaned and sterilized. Generally the skin will need to be numbed to ensure your comfort. Therefore the treatment is considered painless. The tip will glide over your skin creating stimulating channels and an even flushing is the best indication for a perfect medical treatment. The treatment usually takes around 1.5 hours in total.

Can it be performed on any skin colour?

Since we are not using heat, yes the eDermaStamp can be used on any skin colour and skin type.

How long before I see results?

You will see results instantly. However collagen will grow from around the 6 week mark. Your skin will continue to improve over 6-12mths.

How often can I have the eDermaStamp?

    •    For Collagen + Skin Rejuvenation - 4-6 treatments / 4 wks apart
    •    For Scars + Acne Scar Reduction - 6+ treatment / 4 wks apart

Should I expect downtime from this treatment?

The inflammatory reaction of the skin is extremely short and fades significantly within hours from redness to pinkish that may last from 12 to 24 hours on average. In order to reduce visible redness, we recommend topical healing minerals + hyaluronic acid to help hydrate the skin. Zinc sun protection is also recommended.

What should I do after the treatment?

You must avoid AHA’s, retinol (vitamin A) or anything acidic or ‘active’ for a minimum of 2 days.

Only use a soothing cleanser to clean, hyaluronic acid to help hydrate as your skin will become very dry. Copper + Zinc to help heal and protect.

Can I increase my results at home?

Dermaroller recommends their homecare roller system to help stimulate the skin and help penetrate ingredients deeper into it. Use every second day or even just up to once a week to see results.

Note: You will need to be an existing client who is on medical grade skin care for at least 4 weeks before having this treatment.
