Lip size often changes as we get older, and we lose the natural volume we once had. You can also enhance the lips to improve balance and beauty in the face. We can use dermal fillers to:

  • Increase volume and balance of the lips
  • Hydrate lips
  • Enhance the border of the lips
  • Lift the mouth corners

While many people these days are aware of using dermal fillers to enhance the lips, there are many more options and perfected techniques that an experienced and artistic clinician can utilize to enhance lips. It takes only a few extra millimeters to take a lip from beautiful to grotesque, so it takes an experienced clinician to help guide you to the best possible outcome. The best injectors know how and when to say ‘no’ while retaining a beautifully natural look.

A great clinician will understand about balance, harmony and proportion, and will discuss this with you as part of your assessment.

Lip filler FAQ's

How is lip augmentation performed at The Face Place?

You will have a thorough consultation and assessment, and both you and your clinician will create a tailored plan to help you reach your desired look. You will receive full education so that you feel fully informed to make your own decision. Before photos will be taken and you will then be able to schedule an appointment to come in for the actual treatment, one that works around your work and social commitments. Treatment takes around 20-60 minutes, as we are very fussy about achieving balance in your face, and like to take our time to ensure a beautiful, natural looking result.

Is lip filler safe?

HA fillers such as Juvederm, Teosyal, Belotero and Emervel have a strong safety history of tens of millions of people treated worldwide over the last 10+ years. Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in our bodies, and its job in skin is to attract water and create plumpness. We lose HA from the skin as we get older, which is why our skin becomes thinner, drier and more wrinkly as we age. With the HA fillers, we are simply putting something back into the skin that is usually there, but in a stabilized form so that it lasts longer – usually 4-6 months for standard lip fillers

Is lip filler permanent?

No, the HA fillers that we use are not permanent. In the worst case scenario where someone gives you a result that you don’t like, we can quickly and easily remove the filler with tiny injections of hyaluronidase, the enzyme that breaks it down in your body. The hyaluronidase enzyme works within 48 hours, and can often start breaking down the HA filler as soon as it’s injected into the skin. Your lips will go back to what they were like before the treatment.

How much lip filler will I need?

The amount of filler used to fill your lips will depend on what your lips look like to begin with, your other facial characteristics and what you want to achieve. If you wish, we can place smaller amounts in to begin with and build the size of your lips up over time - this way no one will know, unless you tell them!

Does lip filler hurt?

We apply numbing cream prior to your treatment to reduce the level of discomfort. Each person will have a different experience but our nurses and doctors will do their upmost to make you as comfortable as possible.
