Dermal Filler For Under-Eye Hollows

Dermal filler is a highly effective treatment for under-eye hollows, also known as tear troughs.

Everyone naturally has a small amount of under-eye hollowing but deeper, darker or more prominent hollows can make us look and feel tired. These tired-looking hollows are caused by a mix of hereditary factors plus external and internal factors e.g. sleep, general health, nutrition and the ageing process.

Dermal filler can be a highly effective way to treat under-eye hollowing by injecting the tear troughs to lift the tissue and blend the lower eyelid skin with that of the cheeks. While this is an advanced technique requiring a highly experienced injector, it is a relatively simple procedure with minimal discomfort and the result is a fresh, rejuvenated eye area.

Filler can also be used in the cheek and temple areas to indirectly treat the tear trough hollows under the eyes, while improving overall facial shape.

Fine, crepey skin in this area can make the hollowing look worse, and make it harder to achieve a good result with filler. If you have fine, crepey skin, your clinician may suggest a course of PRP treatments prior to your filler treatment, or instead of filler.

Another option is our ‘Bright Eyes’ package, which includes a course of three PRP treatments to thicken and improve the skin around the eyes, a filler treatment to soften under eye hollowing, and an eye gel to brighten and maintain the fine skin around the eyes.

FAQs

What's the first step?
As with all of our injectable treatments, you must have an Initial Injectable Consultation before proceeding with your first treatment – regardless of if you have had this treatment elsewhere. This ensures you are fully educated and informed before proceeding with treatment. We are a best-practice clinic and consistently deliver optimal results by placing paramount importance on education and informed consent.
What is the treatment price?
We charge per syringe for dermal filler. For a detailed price list, view the drop down for Dermal Filler on our Pricing page.
Is dermal filler for under-eye hollows safe?
Generally, yes. We only use HA fillers (Hyaluronic Acid) which are made from a naturally occurring sugar molecule found in the human body – only in a stabilised form.

There are some risks associated with treating this highly sensitive area which will be outlined and discussed in your initial consultation. Our experienced clinicians know exactly where to place the filler, ensuring maximum safety and results.

Is under-eye filler permanent?
No, we use an HA filler under the eyes which is temporary and will last approximately 10 -15 months. This can be a technically challenging area, so if you don’t like the results, it is reassuring to know that we can reverse the filler using an enzyme called Hyalase, to either blend the filler back or remove it completely (fortunately this is not usually needed, but it’s nice to know it’s possible).
What other treatments are available for under-eye hollows?
Platlet-Rich Plasma (PRP): can thicken the under-eye skin, soften hollows and reduce skin crepiness.

Vampire Facial Plus: uses PRP, Dermal Needling and Hydrating HA solution to stimulate superior skin rejuvenation and collagen repair.

Eye Serums: are a great non-invasive alternative but also work well to prep your skin before and maintain your results after treatment. Our eye serums are medical-grade so an Initial Skin Consultation is required first.

Bright Eyes Package: combines a course of PRP treatments to thicken the skin around the eyes, a filler treatment to soften under eye hollows, and a medical-grade eye gel prescribed by one of our nurses. The ultimate under-eye treatment!
