8 Point Lift

Would you like a more youthful, yet naturally lifted look? The 8 Point Lift is a technique for restoring volume in 8 strategic areas, giving maximal lift and support using a relatively small amount of dermal fillers. The results are instant, with minimal discomfort or downtime.

This technique is ideal in anyone who is starting to notice some skin laxity. The most common things people with skin laxity report include:

  • skin sagging or face ‘dropping’
  • ‘tired’ looking under eye area
  • jowls forming along the jawline

As we age, key areas of the face lose their volume. The 8 point lift targets these key areas using a hydrating dermal filler, to create a beautiful, naturally lifted result with minimal discomfort or downtime.

The 8 Point Approach was created by world famous Brazilian Plastic Surgeon Mauricio de Maio, and refined by Dr Raj Aquilla, who works at the same clinic as Dr Cat in London. While we trained in the 8 Point Approach several years ago, we have seen fabulous results since Dr Raj trained our medical team in the subtle refinements of the 8 Point Lift technique.

The 8 strategic lifting points are a general guideline which will be tailored to your needs. A personalised consultation is necessary to determine the best ‘total look’ for your face. The 8 key areas include:

1&2: Cheek bone/structure: A small amount of volume in the area enhances the cheek bones and often helps to lift the nasolabial folds

3: Tear trough/midface: Reduces the appearance of tired hollows under the eyes. If you have significant hollows you may need additional product with a softer, more flexible dermal filler to help with this. Ask your clinician if this additional treatment is right for you

4: Nasolabial fold adjacent to nose: This area often deepens with age, so adding volume here can help give a more youthful appearance. Some people suit having nasolabial folds, while in others it is ageing and dermal filler can be of benefit.

5: Mouth corners: The down turning of the mouth with age gives a ‘down frown’ that can make us look sad or bitter. Creating some support with dermal filler can not only lift the face, but make us look happier too!

6. Prejowl area: Loss of volume in the jaw, cheek and chin area can all contribute to jowl formation, so replacing volume in the hollow along the jawline, along with the other areas of the 8 Point Lift, can all help to reduce or improve jowls.

7. Jawline: As we age, we lose the squareness or angle of the jaw, which helps to lift and support the lower face, so the lower face starts to fall forward, contributing to jowls and sagging. A subtle enhancement of the angle of the jaw can help lift these areas. If you have significant loss of volume in this area you may require more product, and different techniques to get best results.

8. Lower cheek volume/buccal area: Hollowing of the buccal area can contribute to the ‘accordion’ smile lines and can make us look gaunt, while treating this area with filler can help with improve the natural curve and structure of the cheek.

8 Point Lift FAQs

Will I need an initial consultation?

Yes, as with all of our services, you must have an initial-consultation before proceeding with your first treatment – regardless of if you have had this treatment elsewhere. This ensures you are fully educated and informed before proceeding with treatment. We are a best-practice clinic and consistently deliver optimal results by placing paramount importance on education and informed consent.

Is the 8 Point Lift right for me?
If you are over the age of 35, especially if you have started to notice your face dropping or sagging, it is likely that you will be a good candidate for this technique. If you have more severe laxity, a good result is still possible, but more filler and possibly some different techniques may be required for best results.

When will I see results of an 8 Point Lift?
Results are instant, and your clinician will often check your results in a mirror with you during the treatment to show you your progress.
How long do 8 Point Lift results last?
Results can last on average about 12-18 months, however supplemental ‘touch up’ treatments may be required to achieve and maintain the desired look.
When will results of a PRP treatment show?

PRP stimulates collagen production in the skin and fuels the treatment area with stem cells and growth factors. This helps enhance the skin tone, strengthen dermal integrity and boost skin health on the face and body. Results of PRP can start becoming visible at 3 weeks and increase gradually over ensuing months – the results are cumulative and get better and better!

Is the 8 Point Lift expensive?
The 8 Point Lift uses minimal amounts of filler to achieve maximal lifting effects, which makes it a cost effective use of dermal filler.

For early laxity, expect to use 2-3 syringes, while more significant sagging could mean more product is needed to achieve ideal results. While the initial investment may be from $950-$2400, when spread over 12-18 months, You can choose to build the treatment up over several treatments if several syringes are needed. It’s about the same as a coffee or smoothie a day.

How long does the 8 Point Lift take?
The procedure can take from 30-50 minutes, and you will also need time to consult with your clinician. Plan on 60-90 minutes for your appointment. We also recommend an Omnilux LED light treatment after your 8 point lift, to improve your recovery and reduce any swelling, redness or bruising (if they have occurred), the Omnilux also gives your skin a nice boost and glow.
Does the 8 Point Lift hurt?
Any discomfort is usually minimal and brief. The new generation of dermal fillers that we use contains numbing local anaesthetic, which makes the procedure easy and tolerable.
What is the recovery time following an 8 Point Lift procedure?
Most people are in and out with minimal or no downtime. We can apply mineral makeup, and you can often go straight back to work.

We recommend not doing strenuous exercise, going in a spa/sauna or drinking alcohol for the first 24-48 hours.

If you are planning to have the procedure to look great for a special event such as a birthday or wedding, we recommend having the procedure at least 4-6 weeks before the event, as it will often take several weeks to settle in properly. We do not recommend having this treatment within 2 weeks of a special event (in case there is bruising), or within 1 week of an international flight (this can prolong swelling and increase the chance of infection).

What are the possible side effects of an 8 Point Lift?
We use internationally recognised top brand HA dermal fillers, which means that side effects are usually minimal and temporary and the treatment can be reversed if necessary. The most common side effects include, temporary skin reactions such as redness, pain/tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps/bumps, bruising, itching, or discolouration.
