Your 8-Week Summer Skin Plan: Why Injectable Results Take Time
The best aesthetic results aren't instant, they're built over time.
When it comes to preparing your skin for summer, it's easy to think of the finishing touches first. A sprinkle of Botox, a peel for radiance, a skin booster for hydration.
In reality, many of the treatments we use in cosmetic medicine work through biological processes that take time. Treatments such as dermal filler, anti-wrinkle and regenerative skin boosters take time for their full effect to develop. While you may see some improvement relatively quickly, more significant changes develop over weeks or months. The goal isn't simply to make your skin look good for one event, it's to improve the quality, structure and radiance of your skin and tissue so that your results continue to develop over time. This is why a tailored treatment plan is important.
A cosmetic treatment journey allows us to build results progressively, starting with structure, supporting skin quality, and finishing with refinement. Skin ageing is complex, and something that occurs at every layer of our tissue across skin, connective tissue, fat pads, muscles and bone. Treatment stacking allows us to take a more comprehensive approach and target each layer, whilst allowing time for integration and healing. Before thinking about the finishing touches and refining fine lines, we want to address the structural support and create a strong, healthy environment for your skin to function at its best. This is where dermal fillers and skin regeneration become the foundation of your aesthetic treatment plan.
An 8-week "get ready for summer" injectable plan might look something like this:
Week 1 – Consult and skin booster
Everything begins with a comprehensive consultation. This is where we assess your facial anatomy, proportions, skin quality, degree of tissue laxity, muscle movement and aesthetic goals before creating a personalised treatment plan. This is also an opportunity to establish a realistic treatment timeline.
During this week we can begin your series of skin boosters to support, regenerate and hydrate the skin from within. Depending on the product selected, injectable skin boosters may contain ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, amino acids, vitamins and antioxidants designed to improve hydration and support skin quality. The biological response is progressive. While hydration may improve quickly, collagen remodelling and improved skin quality can take 8–12 weeks to see results. This is why skin regenerative treatments are started early in the treatment journey, rather than being left to the week before summer.
Week 2 – Structural support with dermal fillers
Once the treatment plan has been established, we can address areas where structural support or volume restoration may be appropriate. Dermal filler can be used strategically to restore bone and provide structural support to areas that have been affected by age-related changes. Performing structural work earlier in the treatment plan allows time for tissue integration and any associated swelling to settle. Treatment may involve areas like the midface, temples, or other areas associated with structural support.
Week 3 – Second skin booster
Week 3 continues to focus on skin quality. A second skin booster is performed to continue the regenerative process.
Week 4 – Refinement
By the halfway point, your skin should already be progressing, and now we can look at what areas need refining. We assess how the filler has settled, how the skin is responding, and whether there are areas that need further refining. If further dermal filler is appropriate, this can be considered. Treatment for balance may include areas such as the mid and lower face, lips, or areas that need further refinement for facial harmony.
Week 5 – Third skin booster
At this stage we're building on the foundation established over the previous weeks. The skin has received repeated support for hydration and regeneration, while structural support treatments have had time to settle.
Week 6 – Anti-wrinkle
Anti-wrinkle treatments can be used to soften dynamic lines and create a more polished, softer overall result. This treatment works by temporarily reducing the activity of targeted muscles. This treatment takes approximately 2 weeks to be fully effective, so by placing it at the end of a treatment plan like this, we can use it as a refining tool rather than relying on it to compensate for untreated structural or skin quality concerns.
Weeks 7–8 – Review and final assessment
At our final review we assess the overall result rather than looking at each treatment in isolation. This gives time for the dermal fillers and Botox to settle, and the skin boosters to take effect. At this appointment we can make any further refinements to anti-wrinkle treatment. A personal favourite would be to finish the course of treatment with a radiance facial.
Skin regeneration, collagen production, hydration and overall skin quality are processes that take time. Our approach to a summer glow treatment plan starts approximately two to three months before you want to see your best results. The goal is to arrive at summer with skin that already looks healthy, hydrated and glowy, by choosing complementary treatments that work together. The important distinction is that these treatments aren't being used to compensate for poor quality skin. They're the finishing touches to a foundation we've spent the previous months building. The most beautiful results aren't necessarily about doing more, they're about doing the right treatments, in the right order, at the right time. Our Summer Glow Package is designed around this principle, combining skin focused treatments with injectable treatments for optimal treatment stacking results and to target the tissues at every layer of ageing. You can read more about this package in our skin blog.
