What Is Treatment Stacking? A Layered Approach to Facial Rejuvenation
I thought I would take this opportunity to talk about how important it is to address all the layers of our face when having anti-ageing treatments.
We have 4 distinct types of tissue in our face - skin, fat pads, muscle and bone. When we age, we age through all of these layers, and this has a compounding effect on our appearance.
Our skin loses its glow, becomes dull, dehydrated and dry. Our collagen weakens resulting in fine lines and wrinkles.
Our fat pads become atrophic and smaller. Our skull volume becomes less, it shrinks and this volume loss results in sagging of our skin envelop.
Our muscles lose their strength, tone and muscle bulk and no longer hold our tissue in place.
All of the above result in the ageing changes on our face.
It is important that we address each of these layers in your treatment plan to get optimal results. We call this treatment stacking - addressing several layers at a time.
By taking a layered approach, we are able to create results that look balanced, natural and supportive of long-term skin health, rather than simply treating one isolated concern. This may involve combining skin treatments, injectable treatments and medical-grade skincare to support and strengthen the skin both in clinic and at home.
Every face ages differently, which is why every treatment plan should be individualised. Our role is to assess what is happening across all layers of the face and create a plan that works harmoniously to restore, maintain and optimise your natural features over time.
If you haven’t had a comprehensive consultation with us in the past two years, we would encourage you to book in for an assessment so we can discuss the changes you are noticing, your concerns, and the treatment options that may best support your skin and aesthetic goals moving forward.
