What’s Changing in Aesthetic Medicine Right Now
As we come to the end of another exceptionally busy month, I’ve found myself reflecting on just how quickly our industry continues to evolve. March has been defined by exciting new product launches and meaningful scientific advancements.
For me, this month has been dominated by new product launches and scientific advances in our industry. One of the most notable developments has been the introduction of HarmonyCA, which Tina has explored in more detail in our medical blog. This innovative treatment represents a significant step forward, and will be a sort after treatment for many of our patients wanting to combine the benefits of skin quality improvement with volume restoration in a single approach. For many of our clients, this will be a truly transformative option.
This month also saw The Face Place invited to present at an education evening hosted by BTL. We shared our remarkable clinical results combining two of our skin device treatments using Emface and Exion. Emface is a device that uses high intensity electrical stimulation together with radiofrequency to improve muscle tone and function as well as stimulating skin tightening, and Exion face is targeted ultrasound of the dermis to mechanically stimulate the fibroblast to increase hyaluronic acid production. When we age, we age through all the layers of the face - skin, muscle, fat and bone. We have many treatment options for volume loss of the fat pads and bone, but Emface is the only device available to improve muscle tone and strength in our face. The combination of Emface and Exion is able to lift and improve skin firmness and hydration without needles. We were particularly proud to present our results in the eye area and jawline, where the improvements were especially noticeable. With no recovery time required, this is an ideal treatment as we move into winter and focus on restoring skin hydration.
I also had the opportunity to attend the ASCPD Conference in Melbourne in March, an event I always value for its strong scientific focus. In an industry often influenced by trends and social media noise, it is essential that we remain grounded in evidence-based practice. I came away with new knowledge and insights that will inform and refine our practices, as well as having enjoyed connecting with like-minded colleagues who share the same commitment to clinical excellence.
I wish you all a blessed Easter season.
